Marcel Theo Hall, known professionally as Biz Markie, was a pop culture star.  He died on July 16, 2021 in Baltimore, MD, USA. He was 57 years old An AfricanAmerican rapper, he was also a renown DJ, record producer, writer, singer, actor, and comedian.

 Best known for his 1989 single "Just a Friend", which ended up as a Top 40 hit in several countries.. “Just a Friend,” also became his platinum-selling Top 10 hit in 1989, and was a song featured in  TV shows, such as "Black-ish". Rumors about his death was first circulated on July 1, 2021 in social media and quickly rejected by his representatives.

In 1993, His song “Young Girl Bluez,” also hit No. 4 on the Billboard rap chart. He produced other albums including Vapors, "The Biz Never Sleeps", "All Samples Cleared", and “Weekend Warrior”.

His  career also includes  acting roles in movies such as "Sharknado 2: The Second One"", and voice-over or narrator roles in movies and series such as “Kung Faux,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” "Men in Black II", "Crank Yankers",  and "Yo Gabba Gabba!"
